Conference Awards & Grants
Each year, universities, individual chapter schools, and associations provide modest financial support to students who are presenting or attending a conference. The OQRC Planning Committee has compiled a list of funding opportunities to support your conference experience. Please consult the list below for an overview of the awards and grants available. For more information, please contact the respective university, CNSA chapter, and/or association.

Ryerson Collaborative Nursing Program
The Ryerson Nursing Program Conference Award is open to nursing students from the Ryerson main site of the Ryerson Collaborative Nursing Program. This award is intended to help more nursing students attend the 2016 CNSA Ontario Quebec Regional Conference in Toronto with financial help coming from the Ryerson Collaborative Nursing Program. It is the hope of the Ryerson Collaborative Nursing Directors that the 12 successful applicants will come away from the conference experience inspired to impact their community and motivated to make a difference in the field of nursing. Award winners will be reimbursed at the conclusion of the conference after they complete a reflection report. The value of the award per winner is $85.00, which will cover the cost of the “Conference Only” fee. In order to qualify and receive the award, successful applicants MUST attend the Nightingale Gala on Saturday 1, 2016. The cost to attend the gala is $40.00 and must be paid by the applicants themselves.
In order to be considered for this award, students MUST submit an application before Saturday September 10, 2016 by 6:00PM. This award will be handled by the CNSA delegate from Ryerson University.

Applicant Requirements:
1. The student must be a B.Sc.N nursing student at Ryerson University (main site) with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (CGPA not applicable to Year 1 students).
1.1. Have a satisfactory achievement of learning objectives in the clinical placement to date;
1.2. Have obtained approval from their Clinical Instructor/Faculty Advisor for the core nursing courses;
1.3. Applicants will be required to contact their year lead and complete an application no later than ten (10) business days prior to attending the Ontario Quebec Regional Conference
2. The student must be able to pay the remaining monetary cost associated with Ontario Quebec Regional Conference attendance that the Ryerson Collaborative Nursing Program is not able to fund (e.g. flight, meals, transportation, etc.)
3. The student must be able to pay for all costs related to the Ontario Quebec Regional Conference (e.g. flight, meals, transportation, etc.) before being reimbursed after the conclusion of the Ontario Quebec Regional Conference
4. The student will attend the Ontario Quebec Regional Conference in Toronto in its entirety and must attend the Nightingale Gala. Applicants can purchase Package A initially, and then purchase the Nightingale Add-On upon confirmation of winning an award or they may purchase Package B/D directly.
5. The student must complete a reflection report about his/her conference experience following a format to be provided at the conclusion of the Ontario Quebec Regional Conference
6. The student must negotiate with his/her academic instructors about any missed clinical or class time or evaluation and make-up activities

Ryerson University - NCU & CNSA Chapter
The Ryerson NCU-CNSA Conference Award is open to Ryerson University Nursing Students. This award is intended to help more nursing students attend the 2016 CNSA Ontario Quebec Regional Conference in Toronto with financial help coming from Nursing Course Union (NCU) and Canadian Nursing Students Association (CNSA) at Ryerson University. It is the hope of the NCU-CNSA Executive Team that the 28 successful applicants will come away from the conference experience inspired to impact their community and motivated to make a difference in the field of nursing. Award winners will be reimbursed at the conclusion of the conference after they complete a reflection report. The value of the award per winner is $85.00, which will cover the cost of the “Conference Only” fee. In order to qualify and receive the award, successful applicants MUST attend the Nightingale Gala on Saturday 1, 2016. The cost to attend the gala is $40.00 and must be paid by the applicants themselves.

RNAO Region 7 Student Sponsorship
Goal: To meet the #1 Ends of RNAO: Engage with registered nurses and nursing students to stimulate membership and promote the value of belonging to their professional organization.
Strategy: To provide a one-time funding of $100 to a maximum of 10 eligible applicants who meet required sponsorship criteria. Funding will be divided by the number of successful student applicants who attend the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association (CNSA)’s Ontario-Quebec Regional Conference in Toronto, Ontario on September 30 to October 2, 2016. Funding will be based on applicants meeting the criteria below and obtaining preapproval.
Conference Registration Deadline for Award: Tuesday September 6, 2016 at 11:59PM EST.
Criteria:
- Must be a current RNAO Region 7 Nursing Student member.
- Must be a current nursing student in a credible nursing program of a Post-Secondary Institution in Region 7 or live in Region 7 catchment area – see website: http://chapters.rnao.ca/toronto-east
- Must have submitted the attached application form by Tuesday September 6, 2016 at 11:59pm EST in order to be reimbursed for their conference attendance.
- Must have attended 2016 Canadian Nursing Students’ Association (CNSA)’s Ontario-Quebec Regional Conference (September 30 to October 2, 2016) in Toronto, Ontario in its entirety.
- Must NOT claim funding from more than one source of sponsorship (i.e. from “Ryerson Nursing Program Conference Award”, “Ryerson University – NCU & CNSA Chapter”).

- Interested indigenous nursing students must be an RNAO Region 7 Nursing Student member.
- Must have submitted the attached application form by Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 11:59PM EST.

The George Brown College Nursing Conference Award is open to all George Brown Nursing Students from the RN, RPN, and RPN-Bridge Programs. This award is intended to help more nursing students attend the 2016 CNSA Ontario Quebec Regional Conference in Toronto with financial help coming from the Sally Horsfall Eaton School of Nursing and the Canadian Nursing Students Association (CNSA) at George Brown. It is the hope of the School that the 10 successful applicants will come away from the conference experience inspired to impact their community and motivated to make a difference in the field of nursing. Award winners will be reimbursed at the conclusion of the conference after they complete a “Lunch & Learn”. The value of the award per winner is $85.00/$95.00 (Early Bird/Regular Pricing), which will cover the cost of the “Conference Only” fee.
In addition, conference award winners have the option to receive an additional $20.00 of funding from the CNSA Chapter at George Brown College to attend the Nightingale Gala on Saturday October 1, 2016. The Nightingale Gala is an optional event, and conference award winners can choose not to receive this additional funding if they do not wish to attend the Nightingale Gala. If the award winners choose to receive this additional funding from George Brown CNSA, the remaining cost to attend the gala is $20.00 and must be paid by the applicants themselves.
In order to be considered for this award, students MUST submit an application before Saturday September 10, 2016 by 6:00PM.

Applicant Requirements:
1. The student must be a BScN, RPN, or RPN-Bridging nursing student at George Brown College with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 (CGPA not applicable to Year 1 students).
2. The student will attend the Ontario Quebec Regional Conference in Toronto in its entirety. To receive the Gala funding from the George Brown CNSA ($20.00), award winners MUST attend the Nightingale Gala. Applicants can purchase Package A initially, and then purchase the Nightingale Add-On upon confirmation of winning an award or they may purchase Package B/D directly.
3. The student must be able to pay for all costs related to the Ontario Quebec Regional Conference (e.g. flight, meals, transportation, etc) in advance before being reimbursed after returning from the Ontario Quebec Regional Conference. The Sally Horsfall Eaton School of Nursing and/or the George Brown CNSA Chapter will not prepay the conference and/or Nightingale Gala fees in advance for award winners.
4. The student must attend a “Lunch and Learn” about his/her conference experience (lunch will be provided) at a later date following the conclusion of the Ontario Quebec Regional Conference (more information TBA).
5. Students cannot miss any classes on Friday unless they receive prior permission from their Professor(s) and/or Clinical Instructor.
